I get by with a little help from my friends

Money and time

Kentucky Arts Council

Erin Keane has been awarded an Al Smith Fellowship in recognition of artistic excellence for professional artists in Kentucky through the Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, which is supported by state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Thanks to the generosity of the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts, I finished writing a new collection of poems, Death Defying Acts, a novel-in-poems to be published by WordFarm in 2009.

The Gravity Soundtrack and The One-Hit Wonders

The Gravity Soundtrack was published in 2007 by WordFarm, and I am forever indebted to my editor, Marci Rae Johnson, for her tireless work on my behalf, and my wonderful publishers at WordFarm, who have been so gracious and supportive of my projects. My mentors at Spalding University — Greg Pape, Jeanie Thompson, Richard Cecil, Molly Peacock, Debra Kang Dean and Kathleen Driskell — taught me so much as I wrote this book. A special thanks to Rane Arroyo for rolling up his sleeves and giving The Gravity Soundtrack such kind and perceptive attention.

My chapbook, The One-Hit Wonders, was published in 2006 by Snark Publishing and championed by the one and only PF Allen. Thanks to Richard Newman for the suggestion and connection. The poems are inspired by many songs and artists, including the work of Talking Heads, the Clash, the Pogues, My Morning Jacket, REM, Gram Parsons, Johnny Cash, and many Louisville artists at whose shows I have neglected to dance.

The website

I designed my header graphic with help from dinc!FONT's Sugaree, Superstar DJ (fount at dafont!), and Moargh's Teutonic Brush Emporium.

My face

My new headshots were taken by the amazing and talented Kevin Flores.

The blog

My blog's powered by WordPress and I'm powered by Teavana's Mate Vana.

Those t-shirts

The One-Hit Wonders t-shirts were designed by me and printed at Kopilot. You can soothe your jones for collectible Japanese gear and pick up some limited edition prints by artists such as Kathie Olivas and Angie Higgins.
